NEW HEALTHY CHOICE ITEMS FOR SCHOOLS
Under the National School Lunch Program, the U.S. Department of Agriculture directly regulates nutrition for any food sold in schools during the school day. In addition to the CDC’s Smart Snacks in School program, healthier school vending machines are in demand.
At Triple ‘S’ Services, our goal is to encourage healthier eating habits among students in middle school, high school, and college. We provide snack, beverage, food, coffee, and water vending machines in schools and colleges across the Chicagoland area. We currently service over 35 schools with a wide range of healthier snacks.
These machines offer nutritious alternatives to sugary or fatty items found in traditional vending machines. By placing them in your school’s cafeteria, we can make a step in a healthier direction.
Our vending program gives students the feeling of snacking without adverse health effects. Our school vending programs adhere to Illinois School Board vending guidelines.
From nutritious and healthy snacks to extra-energy selections, The Healthy Vending program product variety is quite simply superior.
“Fit Pick™ is a vending program designed to help consumers determine which vending machine choices are (at a minimum) lower in fat and sugar than traditionally vended products. Fit Pick™ provides a simple, ready-to-use system of vending machine stickers that identify vended products which meet a standardized set of nutritional guidelines.” – Fit Pick (Linked to Fit Pick Tool Kit PDF)
Healthy selections available in Triple ‘S’ machines are highlighted with easy-to-spot Fit Pick™ stickers and bright green spiral markers. Fit Pick™ provides a seamless identification system recognizable across communities. These highlighted identifiers make healthier selections stand out. Instead of scanning all of the products in the machine, you can quickly locate healthy choices for faster purchases.
Fit Pick™ nutritional criteria are based on the dietary recommendations of the American Heart Association, the USDA Dietary Guidelines for Americans, and the Alliance for a Healthier Generation Guidelines for Competitive Foods.
